Marcus Banks Interview

As the 2010-2011 season is about to start Marcus Banks of the Toronto Raptors took time out of his schedule to talk basketball with me of all people! On the phone with Marcus Banks we talked about life, family, friends, and last but not least work. When asked about his life his response was life is full of changes and with that comes the ups and downs, good and bad. When it comes to his family, everyone is in great health. Now friends well lets just say everyone lives in Vegas and its hard for them to get to Canada on a regular basis. Work, that's where this story takes a turn after a hard off season of working out with his skills trainer in Las Vegas named "Pnutt", Marcus then flying halfway across the U.S. to work out in Chicago at Attack Athletics with "Sweet Chuck" and Time Grover. In between trips from Las Vegas to Chicago stops in Atlanta to see some fresh competition he had a stop at GERG camp where he seemed to impress a lot of people including his own teams coaching staff. So off to Toronto he went and while at training camp I'm sure he played hard and did well. After a few pre season games I then got the call and we talked about what he loves to play the most....... "BASKETBALL" so as they were written and answered, this is the Marcus Banks startingpg blog interview.

StartingPG: Hey can I get an interview from you?

Marcus Banks: What you mean an interview?

StartingPG: Man just a few questions about hoop!

Marcus Banks: Like What?

StartingPG: Hey either your in or your out mayne (slang for buddy, pal, friend) get down or move around! LOL

Marcus Banks: What's up
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

StartingPG: What's your most remembered time in the N.B.A.

MB: Mine

StartingPG: yeah yours

MB: Me getting drafted

StartingPG: What is your favorite city to play in and why?

MB: L.A. what else can you say about it!

StartingPG: Who are the TOP 5 Point Guards?

MB: You, Langston (his little brother @lbanks_) Little Greg (high school foe) Josh (plays pro in Iceland @Jrivdatruth) and Fat Mark (his little brothers best friend and aspiring rapper @reality702) LOL

StartingPG: LOL, come on man just a few more questions

MB: D Will, Rondo, Nash, CP and Chauncey

StartingPG: Do you think you can be an all star?

MB: Yes, (provided he gets an opportunity to get on the court)

StartingPG: Who is the best N.B.A. player to come out of Vegas?

MB: ME!

StartingPG: Thanks for the info

MB: No problem

StartingPG: See you in Toronto!

WHO COULD YOU GUARD AT ANY POSITION?

Thursday, October 7, 2010

2010-2011 NBA Season!!!!!

THESE PLAYERS SHOULD HELP THEIR TEAMS AND OR DESERVE MORE PLAYING TIME:

Atlanta Hawks-Josh Powell- athletic and fits well with this group, good hands nice 12 footer

Boston Celtics-Delonte West- great fit can play both positions plus he has been there before

Charlotte Bobcats-DeSagana Diop- he is the best defender on this team and doesn't need the ball at all

Chicago Bulls-C.J. Watson- I hope the lights don't distract him, Wait...*thinking* oh yeah he's from VEGAS so he shouldn't get distracted by the lights!! GREAT PICK UP, solid back up, crafty, shifty and heady... GREAT job CHI-TOWN

Cleveland Cavaliers-Ramon Sessions- this guy is a starter (in Cleveland) good point guard who will at least try to defend

Dallas Mavericks-DeShawn Stevenson- only player that will defend the perimeter, better then the SG the have not counting Jason Terry but all he does is score

Denver Nuggets-Shelden Williams- tough defender and with the other guys hurt who else would you play...
plus he posts up Misssss Parker (smokey from the movie Friday voice) so he had to learn something...right?

Detroit Pistons-Chris Wilcox- Whats the problem? maybe he doesn't work hard? he is one of there better biggs!!!!

Golden State Warriors-Vladimir Radmanovic- he is a tough cover and don't let him heat up from the outside.... even though he has been called a space cadet

Houston Rockets-Aaron Brooks- in this case its not the playing time but the PAYING time.... PAY THE MAN!

Indiana Pacers-Mike Dunleavy- Still so versatile, lets just stay healthy

LA Clippers-Al-Farouq Aminu- he is young, and you wont make the playoffs so let him develop

LA Lakers-Derrick Caracter- I remember when I picked him up from prep school and he said he was one of the kids who thought about going straight to the NBA... Well I'm glad he didn't but he can play he is strong big and quick.... another guy who plays well overweight!!!

Memphis Grizzlies-Acie Law and DeMarre Carroll- if Mike Conley isn't your guy give the other pg a try!! as for DeMarre Carroll he is a sleeper long plays hard not afraid to run and defend!!

Miami Heat-Zydrunas Ilgauskas- shoots well enough to give CB room to operate

Milwaukee Bucks-Darington Hobson- He may be hurt but he can do so many things on the court!! smooth like "BUTTA"

Minnesota Timberwolves-Wayne Ellington- weird style of game but he did get great coaching in college and he is a winner (who else plays the SG in MINNI)

New Jersey Nets-Terrence Williams- if he wasn't so full of himself he'd probably play more... never the less he can defend, pass and rebound better then anyone off the bench!!

New Orleans Hornets-Jason Smith- he can be a pretty good player just needs a confident PG to help him

New York Knicks-Eddy Curry- one of those guys who plays well over weight! Chicago made him lose weight and he almost passed away!! FAT OR NOT he can play!

Oklahoma City Thunder-Eric Maynor- give him more min. so Russell Westbrook can move to the SG

Orlando Magic-Brandon Bass- Why pay him and not play him? hard worker good hands and rebounds!!!

Philadelphia Sixers-Jason Kapono- Great shooter, quick release, big guard (cant defend) he has a RING so he knows how to be a winner!!!

Phoenix Suns-Hakim Warrick- athletic doesn't need the ball can defend and will DUNK ON YOU even if he weighs 175lbs....

Portland Trail Blazers-Armon Johnson- this guy is a *SLEEPER* he can defend has long arms like Rajon Rondo defensively he is the best guard off the bench also he is 6'3 1/2 at the PG position....

Sacramento Kings-Joe Crawford- nice size played for a good NBA college coach, should help at the SG this year

San Antonio Spurs-James Anderson- Can flat out score and has the size to back it up!! plays defense like every other Oklahoma State Cowboy has done...

Toronto Raptors-Marcus Banks- Lets talk on the court only 94 feet..... why is this guy know as one of the most talented guards in the NBA but cant get any playing time? give him the opportunity Sebastian Telfair has had and lets see what happens.....defends, strong, athletic, quick and learning to be a better PG.... so why does'nt he play? Where talking on the court.........

Utah Jazz-Andrei Kirilenko- this guy was an ALL-STAR, one of the best wing defenders left in this league

Washington Wizards-Nick Young- very versatile, there has to be min. for him he can run, jump and shoot with the majority at his position... or maybe that's the problem he has no position and if so he is an athlete and can help this team!

*I MIGHT NOT KNOW EVERYTHING, BUT I DO KNOW ONE THING AND THATS BASKETBALL*
